Yesterday, both Isaiah and Gabriella were miserable with high fevers, body aches, and coughs. They perked up after they were loaded up with some Tylenol and I took them into urgent care last night. Gabriella had a raging ear infection, so hopefully the antibiotic will help with her cough as well. As we were waiting to fill the prescription in the drive thru, I heard Gabriella talk to her imaginary friend "Bawrbie" and she was telling her that she needs to work out tomorrow morning since she hasn't excercised for a long time. I thought to myself....is that a message for me?? New Years always brings a new set of goals doesn't it? Hopefully the kids will fare well throughout the day so we can go to our New Years party at our neighbors, Matt & Crystal's. Praying Isabella doesn't get what the older two have.

It is Official....I am a Blogger!
Whether or not you read this or not, this official start of my blogging will be primarily used to journal about our children and our family as life has seem to be in a fast forward mode for some years now. Isaiah turned 8 last month and I can hardly believe where the time went. So this is to be the start of some official journaling in the fun and silly moments we share as a family.
So with 2008 rapidly coming to a close, I thought I would highlight some family blessings and events we experienced this year.
January: We were scheduled to go to Florida to spend some time with John's parents, but those plans were put on hold since I had a complete placenta previa and the odds of it moving according my doctor were very slim. I prayed for a clear answer from God whether we should proceed in going on our trip or forgo it for safety reasons. Well I got a answer that was proceeded by an awful few hours of pain, contractions and fear I was going into labor. I called John who was on a trip and he prayed for a while with me on the phone until I calmed down and all the pain went away. Two days later my u/s showed no previa! Praise God! This meant no c-section and a trip to Florida! We had a wonderful time in Florida and we took the kids to Disney World, Animal Kingdom and Mgm Studios. Gabriella was a bit shy of most of the characters but loved the rides! Isaiah on the other hand was much more timid of the rides but loved the characters! John scarred Isaiah from the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom 4 years ago and from that moment on Isaiah has been very timid on rides! We spent a lot of time at Orange Lake Resort with John's parents and Grandpa. We played in the pool a lot and putt putt with the Grandparents.
February: Busy getting ready for Isabella to arrive. We bought a new bed for Gabriella and transitioned her to Isaiah's room temporarily while we worked on getting Isabella to sleep through the night. Gabriella is a very light sleeper! She loves her new bed! The room is very tight! When we built our house 8+ years ago, we weren't even thinking kids let alone having 3 kids! Isaiah wrapped up his first year at basketball and I was amazed at how well he played.
March- We welcomed our snowbaby Isabella Grace on the 19th of March! She is a beautiful gift from the Lord! Weighing in at 6#15oz and 20 inches long! Isabella lost lots of weight in the first few weeks and it was a lot of work to keep up on the breastfeeding and supplementing her, but we did it and she finally came back to her birth weight!
April- Isaiah and Gabriella have adjusted well with the new baby! They both love to hold her and are always smiling at her. Gabriella is fascinated by everything about having a baby especially the whole breastfeeding thing and even tried to breastfeed one of her dolls!
May- We decided to go forward and put the house on the market! What a crazy idea just weeks after having a newborn! Gabriella got her first Princess bike with training wheels and is is excited to learn how to ride her new bike!
June- Isaiah finished 1st Grade and a couple days later we headed up to John's parents cabin up at Leech Lake. Isaiah, Daddy and Grandpa did lots of night fishing and lots of bonding time! "Is it a fish or a snag?" was the one liner that was repeated often along with "he did it on purpose". Isaiah caught and ate his first walleye! Isaiah and Gabriella wrapped up the month with Vacation Bible School at our church where I was able to help at too! Isaiah invited a friend Nupier to join us and it was so fun to see him get excited and learn about Jesus! The boys did lots of fishing and tubing after VBS. Gabriella had lots of fun too and was so excited to go everyday and once we got there she got into her "shy" mode and at the end when I went to pick her up she never wanted to leave! I have to brag that my son hit a grandslam in one of his June baseball games and "knocked it out of the park!"
July- We spent the 4th of July with my family at my parents house and did lots of swimming! Isabella swam for the first time! She didn't cry but had a face that she wasn't too sure about! By the end of the month Gabriella started to swim underwater all by herself across the shallow end of the pool! She is our water baby! I started taking her swimming with me when she was only 6 weeks old! Isaiah mastered the diving board this summer and even caught a few balls mid air before plunging into the deep end!
August- In the first few days, Isabella was sick and ended up in the hospital for one night. It was so gut wrenching to watch my baby suffer. God's hand was in it and He brought a miraculous change in her in just a few short hours from her white count that was supposedly high to a normal level and no smiles to the smiley self she always was back in a few short hours. Once she got better we were off to spend some time with our dear friends the Rabe's at their cabin up north. The kids had fun playing and we got to do some relaxing by the fire and the lake. We ended our summer back up to Leech Lake with G & G Fletcher, where we caught some big walleye! My first and only walleye I caught was 27 inches long! It was so much fun!
September- Isaiah started 2nd grade at Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion and Gabriella started her first year of preschool at Christ Kids Lutheran Preschool in Shakopee. Gabriella was so excited to be like her brother and go to school! She loves her teachers Miss Jennifer and Miss Barb. Isaiah started his first year at flag football and was one of the smallest kids on the team! We didn't know at first that he was the youngest and the oldest boys were 11 years old! We were glad it was flag football!
October- We had some beautiful fall weather and were able to take some great family outdoor pictures! We also went to a pumpkin carving party at our neighbors house. I can hardly believe some of the designs people did at carving pumpkins! It by far was more than I ever anticipated! I carved a Yoda for Isaiah, and a Cinderella for Gabriella! See the word "I" while the kids ran around and played with the kids! Neither of them liked pulling out the "guts" of the pumpkin and of course lost interest after the first 5 minutes!
November- Isaiah turned 8! We had a party for him with his friends at Grandslam! His favorite thing was the Laser tag with all his buddies but they were upset when they got beat by a group of 5th grade girls from Eden Prairie! We celebrated Thanksgiving with so much to be thankful for...our health, our children and our family.
December- The kids had some major bonding time with all the grandparents as we escaped to Hawaii! We had a wonderful Christmas as we reflected upon the birth of Jesus. On Christmas Eve the kids (Isaiah, Gabriella, Isabella, Nathan and Emma) all performed different Christmas songs through musical instruments and singing along with Nathan and Isaiah reading the Christmas story to all of us. It was so precious and so good! Isabella performed "Jingle Bells" while taking Grandma's bell necklace as we all sang "Jingle Bells". Gabriella did her "J-O-Y" song and Isaiah played a variety of Christmas Carols on the organ while we all sang. Christmas Day we spent with my family and the kids had fun sledding and snowmobiling with everyone. Isabella had a wonderful first Christmas and tried to open a few gifts but her older siblings were much more eager to help her out! She still is not crawling but will roll to where she wants to get to!
